Questionable Workers Comp claims are on the rise again. In a recent report by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), workers compensation claims from 2011 to the first quarter of 2013 have dropped. However, for the same period questionable claims have risen from 3,474 in 2011 to 4,460 in 2012 are on pace to rise again in 2013.
While there are many states that have shown an increase in their questionable claims reporting statistics, such as Delaware, Connecticut and Maine, California still leads the way each year.
As the economy continues to be sluggish, the practice of filing fraudulent claims continues to be of great concern for facilities, plant, safety and operations managers. But rather than outline the things you need to know, which many of you already know, we thought we would take a lighter look at the stupid things people do at work.
