You’ve probably heard the quote, “excuses are like $%#[email protected], everyone’s got one.” Or is that opinions? Any way, in a recent survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Career Builder, 3,484 workers and 2,099 hiring managers and human resource professionals across different industries and company sizes were polled about workplace attendance.
As part of the survey, one of the questions was – “What was the most memorable excuse given for missing work.” We thought we would take a break from our discussion and in David Letterman fashion give you our Top 10 memorable excuses for missing.
Here are our top 10 favorites:
Reason #10 – I bit my tongue and couldn’t talk.
Reason #9 – I couldn’t decide what to wear
Reason #8 – My football team lost on Sunday, so I needed to recover on Monday.
Reason #7 – I received a threatening phone call from the electric company and needed to report it to the FBI.
Reason #6 - The chemical in my Thanksgiving turkey made me fall asleep and I missed my shift
Reason #5 - Employee’s fake eye was falling out of its socket
Reason #4 - I got lost and ended up in another state
Reason #3 - A swarm of bees surrounded my vehicle and I couldn’t make it in
Reason # 2 - Someone glued my doors and windows shut so I couldn’t leave the house to come to work
Reason #1 – My false teeth flew out the window while driving down the highway
